Helping Teens and Parents Thrive Together

Parenting is hard—something most of us come to without any real preparation beyond the parenting we experienced as kids. While that upbringing can be valuable, it often leaves us with a foundation that feels shaky or unreliable when challenges arise. At Winslow Coaching, I specialize in helping immigrant parents and teens bridge the emotional and cultural gaps that can leave families feeling disconnected. Whether it’s navigating a new culture, dealing with the pressures of fitting in, or tackling the tricky dynamics of communication, I’ve spent the past decade learning not only about my own parenting journey but also how to help others tap into the intrinsic wisdom we all carry. With a little guidance, we can turn those awkward silences and strained conversations into trust, connection, and open communication that lets your relationships truly thrive.

Meet the Founder

Hi, I’m Kate Winslow—founder of Winslow Coaching, mom of two amazing kids, and a dog lover living in the beautiful Santa Cruz Mountains, surrounded by majestic redwood trees. When I’m not working in operations at a venture capital firm, I’m pursuing my passion for helping young adults and their parents navigate the complexities of communication, cultural identity, and self-discovery.

Why coaching? I believe my experiences—both as a professional and as someone dedicated to helping young people thrive—can make a real difference. I’m passionate about guiding young adults to embrace who they are while helping parents foster deeper connections with their children. Together, we’ll create the tools and understanding you need to strengthen your relationships and build lasting trust as a family.

My Approach

Relaxed and Real

No pressure, no lectures—just real conversations that actually make sense. Whether you're figuring out how to handle life’s curveballs or you’re a parent trying to get through to your teen, we keep it chill. I’m not here to tell you what to do; I’m here to help you find your own way, at your own pace, without making things feel like a to-do list.

Collaborative

I believe in the power of collaboration to create meaningful change. Whether you’re a young adult finding your voice or a parent working to reconnect, we’ll approach this journey together. I’m here as a guide, but this is a partnership—you bring your experiences, and I’ll help you shape them into actionable steps. Together, we’ll break through the challenges to create real, lasting transformation.

Therapy vs. Coaching: What’s the Difference?

It’s important to know the difference between therapy and coaching, especially when deciding what’s best for you or your family. Therapy is often about looking back—exploring past experiences, working through emotional pain, and understanding the root causes of your struggles. It’s a valuable process for healing and addressing unresolved issues from the past.

On the other hand, coaching focuses on the present and the future. At Winslow Coaching, we work on building practical tools to help you navigate your life right now and set you up for success in the future. It’s about action, awareness, and growth—whether you’re a teen figuring out who you are or a parent working to reconnect with your young adult.

While therapy can be a deep dive into understanding past challenges, coaching is here to empower you with the skills and strategies to move forward with confidence and clarity.
